It may be the end of an era for Abby Lee Miller, but there’s always a light at the end of a dark tunnel…
After creating prodigy after prodigy on the hit reality series Dance Moms, the time has come for Abby Lee Miller to part ways with all that she’s ever known as she prepares to fulfill her prison sentence for bankruptcy fraud, and boy is she going out with a bang! The dramatic teaser for the new season features nothing short of emotion as tension rises when the studio is forced to find a replacement for Abby, but if you thought the past seasons were intense, clearly you ain’t see nothin’ yet…
In the super tease released for the new season that airs later this summer, the Abby Lee Miller dance studio seems to be in sheer panic mode when renowned choreographer Laurieann Gibson, who’s worked with Beyoncé and Michael Jackson in the past, steps in and ignites a spark of distress amongst the dance moms.
But shortly after, we see Cheryl Burke step in, who has already been slated to take Abby’s place while she completes her year-long sentence. Abby announced back in March that she would be resigning from the Lifetime show, after the network allegedly treated her “like dirt” following season 7B’s wrap. She publicly declared her resignation in anger-filled social media posts, that read QUOTE, “I WILL NO LONGER TAKE PART IN DANCE MOMS. FOR THE PAST SIX YEARS/SEVEN SEASONS I HAVE ASKED, BEGGED, AND EVEN DEMANDED CREATIVE CREDIT FOR ALL THE IDEAS, AWARD WINNING ROUTINES, THEMES AND COSTUMING – TO NO AVAIL!”
Her announcement came just two months before she was sentenced to a year and a day in prison for attempting to hide $775,000 of income from the Lifetime series and its spinoff during Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. She was additionally fined $40,000 and ordered to pay the $120,000 judgement, however, while it’s unclear how much time she’ll actually have to serve, sources have revealed to People Magazine that she’ll realistically only be serving 10 months in prison, followed by another stretch at a halfway house…
But thankfully the ALM Dance Company seems to be in good hands, thanks to dance legend Cheryl Burke, but the countdown until the madness has officially begun, so don’t forget to tune into the season premiere on August 1st, but right now I gotta know all your thoughts on the new season teaser, so get to talking down here in the comments, and be sure to subscribe for all the latest updates.
