Ariana Grande is allegedly being sued for Dangerous Woman. Get the scoop right now on Clevver News
Ariana Grande is reportedly being accused of copyright infringement for her new single “Be Alright”
Ariana has been promoting her upcoming album “Dangerous Album” and while fans are loving the new tracks, one UK music producer is not quite as hyped.
After Ari’s performance on SNL, fans noticed that her song “Be Alright” sounded very similar to producer Mura Masa’s “Firefly”.
Take a Listen to Ari’s groove track:
Ok, now take a listen to “Firefly”
Mura Masa agreed with the copyright accusation writing on twitter, “Yeah I didn’t produce that Ariana grande track”.
Music plagiarism is common. We recently reported on Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams "Blurred Lines", who had issues with Marvin Gaye's songs "Got to Give It Up" Mark Ronson was forced to add additional credits to "Uptown Funk" (featuring Bruno Mars)--- Charlie Wilson’s publishing company--- and Sam Smith, “Stay With Me” was infringement on Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down,”
musical copyright is so complicated because it’s metaphysical and thus, often times up to interpretation. In order to be found guilty, a prosecutor must prove
ACCESS or SUBSTANTIAL SIMILARITY But no one owns a genre or a groove. so it’s about determining the line between influence and plagiarism
We will see what happens with this track, but it’s not all bad news for Ariana Grande. She was just announced as a headliner for Kiss FM’s Wango Tango which is happening in mid-may! SO what do you guys think- is the song too similar? Take away the vocal performance and really dig into the track? I am so curious as to your thoughts!
