Ariana Grande put her foot down on society’s misogynistic crap, and let her feminist flag fly.
Ariana is done being labeled as someone’s “ex” or “new girlfriend” and says enough to society’s double standards.
Yesterday morning, Ariana posted a lengthy message on Twitter debunking societies double standard status quo by empowering herself and young women alike to stop putting up with patriarchal ideals and instead be the bosses you were born to be.
She started off the message by reminding women that being empowered and knowing what you want is not synonymous with being a “bitch.” She then pointed out that she is sick of simply being referred to as someone’s “ex” or “girlfriend” and property basically when hello she is SO much more than that and has bigger fish to fry by killing the game right now with the best music she’s ever made along with a nearly sold out tour and meeting her fans all over the world.
She then went on to point out the fact that it’s always socially acceptable for guys to talk about sex and are even glorified for using words like bitches and hoes, but if a female talks about sex she’s labeled a “slut.” As well as when a woman is seen with a guy out in public, society already has them married with four kids already. What’s up with that??
But Ariana has high hopes for the future saying QUOTE - “I can’t wait to live in a world where people are not valued by who they’re dating / married to / attached to, having sex with (or not) / seen with…. but by their value as an individual.”
Touche. She then asks the world and the media to help her out with this by stopping with the double standards.
On Saturday’s episode of her behind the scenes footage of the “Honeymoon Diaries” Ariana laid down the law again by making clear that she is done with the labels saying QUOTE - I’m not Big Sean’s ex. I’m not Niall [Horan]’s ‘possible new girl. I’m Ariana Grande -- and if that’s not interesting enough, don’t talk to me.”
In the Twitter post, she went on to further prove her point by saying that she’s happier now than she’s ever been before saying QUOTE - “I’m saying this after literally 8 years of feeling like I constantly had to have a boy by my side. After being on my own now for a few months I am realizing that that’s just not the case…I have never felt more present, grounded, and satisfied. I’ve never laughed harder or had more fun or enjoyed my life more.”
She then signed off the post with a quote by Gloria Steinem saying QUOTE - “any woman who chooses to behave like a full human being should be warned that the armies of the status quo will treat her as something of a dirty joke..She will need her sisterhood.”
In other words we need to all support and help one another and stop with the unnecessary judgment.
And it’s not that Ariana is being a man hater. I want to point out that feminism calls for the equality of the sexes, and not one over the other. Ariana’s just sick of the sexist labels and categories.
You stand on that soap box Ari. So what do you guys think of Ariana’s statement? And please tell me you’re hearing her out or else you can exit stage left to take you back to the 1950s.
