Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez are two of music’s biggest pop stars, but one actor is totally dissing their sexy personas.
Comedian Jeff Garlin, who stars on the ABC sitcom The Goldbergs, stopped by HuffPost Live this week, and slammed not only the girls, but the over sexualization of young stars in general.
Now, you might be wondering why he even went down this road and even brought up Selena. And that my friends would be because he once starred on Selena’s Wizards of Waverly Place, and that’s basically how it all got started. Take a look.
Jeff also mentioned that he felt dirty seeing Selena’s work in Spring Breakers, but also said he went to go see it by himself. Maybe invite a friend along next time?
Another part of the interview included him saying that Selena will be “ridiculous” in a bikini when she’s 30. Is that a compliment?
First, we understand where Mr. Garlin is coming from, but the sexualization of pop stars has been happening since the days of Madonna, Britney Spears, and more. That doesn’t make it right, but it’s just part of pop music culture at this point, right? He slammed Ariana Grande’s baby fat, but is that really fair?
Further, Selena is 22 years old and Ariana is 21! They are both NOT kids anymore. Perhaps Jeff is just stuck in the past since they worked together with Selena when she was under age. But SelGo is a grown up, and if that’s how she wants to express herself as an artist, she has every right to do that. Why can’t she be sexy in a bikini NOW?!
