Avicii’s family implies the DJ died from an apparent suicide in a new statement.
The tragic news of Avicii’s death just became even more tragic.
It’s been less than a week since it was announced that beloved EDM DJ and producer, Avicii, whose real name is Tim Bergling, was found dead in Muscat, Oman. His family initially released a statement thanking fans for their love and support, and asking for privacy. The family has just released a second statement, which seems to give a little more insight into how Avicii died.
The statement read QUOTE, "Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions. An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress. When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most—music."
The statement then seems to imply the DJ may have taken his own life, as it reads QUOTE, “He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace...Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight."
While the words “He could not go on any longer” and “He wanted to find peace” seem to suggest that Avicii’s death was a suicide, the family did not directly say as such.
The family ended the statement with a message directly for Tim, saying QUOTE, “Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed. The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive. We love you, Your family.”
On Sunday, the Royal Oman Police reported that they had performed two autopsies, and that they had officially ruled out any suspicion of foul play in the death.
One friend explained that the party scene was the cause of a lot of stress for the DJ, telling People QUOTE, “Tim was Avicii, but Avicii was never Tim. He was sweet, sensitive and like a guy that didn’t want to be at the party, let alone the reason people were there...Parties, the scene, leeches instead of friends...it was all too much for his sensitive soul. He wanted to watch movies all night, not party all night. It’s like he didn’t know who he was without his career, but his career was killing him — literally.”
We here at Clevver continue to share our sympathies with Tim’s family, friends, and fans. Thank you for joining me on News Feed, I’m your host Naz Perez, and I’ll see you soon.
