It’s been almost two weeks since Demi Lovato’s alleged overdose, and now she’s speaking out.
Well, you guys… it sounds like Demi Lovato is very committed to her recovery.
It’s been a difficult several weeks for Demi Lovato, who was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on July 24 after suffering from an apparent overdose at her Los Angeles home.
Over the last couple of weeks, Demi has remained at the hospital due to medical complications caused by the overdose, and while Demi’s people did release a statement saying she was “okay and stable,” fans were still left wondering when they’d hear from Demi herself about the status of her health and her plans for the future.
Thanks to a letter Demi posted on Instagram yesterday, her fans no longer have to wonder.
Demi wrote, QUOTE, “I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.”
Demi even gave a special thanks to her fans for sticking by her side and being so understanding during this extremely rough time.
QUOTE, “I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well,” she said, “To my fans, I am forever grateful for all of your love and support throughout this past week and beyond. Your positive thoughts and prayers have helped me navigate through this difficult time.”
In the letter, Demi also thanked her family, her team, and the wonderful people at the hospital who’ve been taking care of her. Most importantly, though, she addressed the process of recovery, saying she’s going to take some time to focus on her sobriety.
Although she didn’t detail any specific plans for her recovery, People reported days ago that Demi agreed to enter a drug treatment center immediately following her release from Cedars-Sinai, and that she’s, QUOTE, “well enough to leave the hospital this weekend.”
Demi closed out her letter on a positive note, telling fans, QUOTE, “I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting.” Well, we’re all rooting for you, Demi!
