Demi has never been shy about her experiences with mental health illness and speaking in front of a large crowd of Democrats at the DNC was not going to stop her.
It’s no secret that Demi has been a longtime advocate for mental health issues ever since she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder four years ago. Since then, Demi used her celebrity platform to bring awareness to mental health care and on Monday night at the Democratic National Convention, she did the same thing she’s been doing for years – except this time, it’s on a much bigger platform.
Demi opened up about her own experiences with bipolar disorder to the crowd in Philadelphia and those at home watching the DNC. She also reminded everyone watching about the dire consequences that can happen if mental illness goes untreated.
Demi went on to urge all politicians to support laws that provide better healthcare for those who are in need of it. The singer supported her plea by powerfully saying QUOTE, “This is not about politics, it’s simply the right thing to do.” But, before you start questioning whether or not Demi is doing something to make a difference, she revealed that she is in fact doing her best to help those in need.
Demi may think that her actions are small, but when it comes to helping others who are in desperate need of help, no action or good deed is too big or too small. Once her powerful remarks were over, Demi segued into a performance of ‘Confident.’
After that night Demi tweeted about her experience with the democrats in Philly and said QUOTE, “Had an amazing time tonight supporting @HillaryClinton at the #DemsInPhilly tonight!! #ImWithHer.”
