Bebe Rexha Calls Out Troll Who Said ‘You Need To Lose Weight’

Bebe Rexha suffered yet another troll attack over the weekend when an Instagram user suggested that she lose some weight, but ya girl came through with the clapback.
What’s up guys, and happy Monday! It’s Emile Ennis Jr. back here with Clevver News, and I just have a quick question: What’s up with peoples’ manners these days?! Why is it so dang hard to just be kind? Oh, and why is it that trolls attack on the Internet like a bunch of cowards?
Ok, so I have a lot of questions regarding this topic because Bebe Rexha doesn’t deserve the hate. On that note, nobody does, yet here we are.
It all started with an Instagram photo Bebe Rexha posted backstage at the Ellen Show ahead of her solo performance of “You Can’t Stop The Girl”, featured in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
Mind you, this is a STUNNING photo of Bebe. Girl is looking all sorts of FIRE.
But unfortunately, this isn’t the first time she’s been under attack for her weight, which makes this all the more upsetting.
In the photo, she confidently rocks an all-black getup featuring a floor length flowy dress and knee-high boots.
She wrote alongside the photo QUOTE, “I’ve always wanted to do an Ellen solo performance and doing it for an empowering song was amazing. I’m so grateful. #YouCantStopTheGirl”, and let me just tell you, her performance was equally as empowering.
Serious chills. It’s no surprise that the song has received massive praise from fans and listeners alike… with the exception of one of Bebe’s followers who wasn’t quite feelin’ it and decided to make her unwanted opinion public for the entire world to see. The comment read, “Wow… you need to lose weight.”
SERIOUSLY, WHO SAYS THAT?! It’s totally cool though, because if anyone knows how to hold their own and shut down the haters, Bebe’s your girl.
She was quick to respond to the comment, writing, “no you need to be more accepting and work on your own self hate.”
Done and done! But as I mentioned, this isn’t the first time Bebe’s been a victim of the attack of the trolls, and unfortunately, it probably won’t be the last.
Earlier this year, Bebe attended her very first Grammy Awards. She was up as a first-time nominee for Best New Artist and Country Duo/Group Performance for the smash hit “Meant To Be.” So you could say the awards show was a big deal for her.
Unfortunately, her experience was ruined by a designer who refused to dress her for the show because she was “too big”. Yeah, you heard that right. Seriously, it’s 2019… how is size still an issue…?
The search for the perfect outfit was put on hold as Bebe opened up about the experience via Instagram video back in January, a month before the show.
She said, “So I finally get nominated at the Grammys, and it’s like the coolest thing ever. And a lot of times artists will go and talk to designers, and they’ll make them custom dresses to walk the red carpet, right? Like, you go to any big designer. So I had my team hit out a lot of designers, and a lot of them do not want to dress me because I’m too big. Literally, like, I’m too big.”
She went on to reveal that she’d just rather not wear a dress if her size 6/8 is going to be an issue. Check it out:
Many celebs got word of Bebe’s post, which ended up generating tons of responses from A-Listers like Demi Lovato, Tyra Banks and Mayim Bialik.
Bebe also received offers from much more size-inclusive designers like Christian Siriano, Michael Costello, and Canadian designer Tanya Taylor, who wrote alongside the post, “We would LOVE to design something custom for you!!!”
I could only imagine how hard the designers who denied her are kicking themselves right now.
This instance also happened back in 2016 when Leslie Jones took to Twitter to call out designers for the same reason and refusing to dress her for her Ghostbusters premiere.
Christian Siriano, yet again, was quick to come to the rescue, and Leslie’s rant also sparked a bigger conversation about the lack of size acceptance in the fashion world.
