Best & Worst Auditions From American Idol Season Premiere

American Idol is BACK with all-new judges on an all-new network, buuuut it’s still the exact same show we loved for so many years. This time, the star-studded judges table includes Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan, and together, they are responsible for the selecting a highly qualified group of hopeful singers to travel to Hollywood, where the real competition begins. And it wouldn’t be American idol without Ryan Seacrest. The host is back on the show that made him a star. The 2018 season debut of American Idol was filled with incredible auditions, and also a lot of not-so-incredible auditions, so here’s a roundup of everything you need to see from the premiere.
The auditions got off to a great start with Catie Turner, a 17 year old singer/songwriter who delivered an original song that definitely wowed the judges.
Yes, Catie’s going to Hollywood.
Then there was Noah Davis who, even before his audition, had a special moment with KP that went viral earlier this week. Just in case you missed it, one Word: WIG.
If that wasn’t a good sign, I don’t know what is. But he didn’t even need Katy’s stamp of approval because Noah’s rendition of RiRi’s stay is just about… everything.
Another one of our faves is 15 year old Alyssa Raghu who covered Ariana Grande. Again, 15 years old.
Did I mention she’s 15? Because she’s 15.
But, of course, it can’t all be amazing, because this is American Idol, let’s be real. So the premiere was filled with plenty of not-so-great moments. Cue the hilarity.
