It’s that time again! The 2016 Emmy awards have come! Whether you were at the Microsoft Theatre in LA watching the Emmys front and center or at home comfortably on your couch watching it on TV you more than likely belted out a few laughs thanks to Jimmy Kimmel.
Some of Jimmy’s jokes made us literally LOL while others made us say WTF so we thought we’d break down some of his best and worst jokes at the 2016 Emmys. You’re welcome!
First we have to give snaps for Jimmy because being a host at an award show is tough work, you have to entertain the crowd, pronounce all the Tv Show and actors names right all while reading a teleprompter. It’s not easy and he killed it. Lets start with his intro because it was everything and also because the rest of his jokes kind of made us squirm in our seats.
Jimmy started off with a bang with some major cameos in the opener from hanging out with the cast of Modern family to getting down on some carpool kareokee with James Cordon jamming out to the classic ”wake me up before you go go” he really pulled out all the stops but his road to the actual award show took a tough turn when he couldn’t catch a lift with Julia Louis Drefeyus but instead he had to catch a ride with Emilia Clark on a dragon who accidentally burnt up Ryan Secreast. I know right, like I said he started off with a bang!
When Jimmy finally got to the actual award show he ran straight to Jefferely Tambor and handed him an Emmy and said “All right, that saved us 22 minutes, what else? You know Tambor wins like 100 emmys every year so I can appreciate Jimmy wanting to speed up the process. the emmys can be long!
Then Things took a dark turn when Jimmy tried to give a compliment to Cuba Gooding Jr. saying he was so good in The People v. O.J. Simpson. Saying He played O.J. so well that he now believes Cuba may have done it.” Compliment turned wrong so fast but it’s the thought that counts Jimmy.
But wait it gets darker Bill Cosby was introduced to the stage and everyone was looking around in shock waiting in anticipation but it caught everyone off guard to see Jimmy walk onto the stage instead and to everyones relief it was only Jimmy playing a joke on everyone simply because he wanted to see what they would do..funny not funny? Well let’s see what Sofia Vergara thinks. She’s a comedian and has a sense of humor I wonder if she thinks he is funny?
Ok so his humor might not be for her but this joke of his got the people laughing
That was a good one! But I do have to say my favorite moment of the night was when Matt Damon crashed the Emmy Awards, seemingly just to taunt Jimmy .Kimmel did not win for Outstanding Variety Talk Series and Damon wanted to rub some salt into Kimmel’s wound and it literally had me laughing out loud
ohhhh burn well it’s probably only karma for this joke Jimmy made about our presidential candidate saying
"If it wasn’t for television would Donald Trump be running for president? No, he would be at home right now quietly rubbing up against his wife, Malaria, while she pretends to be asleep." Yikes but hey whats an award show without throwing jabs at politics right?
And the most awkward one of the night I have to say was after Tori Kellys beautiful performance for the memoriam. Jimmy just had to follow it up with this joke “That memoriam kicked ass. It's going to be tough to beat next year." Yeah Awkward.
