Jimmy Kimmel Shares EMOTIONAL Story About Newborn Son's Heart Defect

Jimmy Kimmel reveals his newborn son’s health crisis in an emotional monologue on his show, and gives a powerful message at the end that many celebs are praising.
Jimmy Kimmel’s latest monologue was filled with more tears than laughs, but thankfully it had a happy ending and a heartwarming message…
Jimmy returned to the late night stage after he and wife Molly McNearney welcomed a baby boy on April 21st, but rather than sharing a funny anecdote about the chaos that ensues when welcoming a second child, Jimmy shared the much more sobering account of how his newborn son, Billy, was born with a heart condition that lead to the baby having to undergo open-heart surgery at three days old.
Jimmy thanked all of the doctors, nurses, family, and friends that helped he and Molly through the most difficult situation they’ve ever faced as a family, and encouraged everyone to donate to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He eventually segwayed his story into a powerful political message, slamming the idea that anyone should be denied access to health insurance for having a pre-existing medical condition, and reminding us that access to health care is a basic right that every decent person should be on board with--no matter their political preference.
After his monologue went viral, a slew of celebs took to social media to share their support with the late night host and his family, as well as to praise him for being so vulnerable to share his story and for sending out a very important message about healthcare rights in the United States.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus tweeted QUOTE, “A touching & most powerful monologue from my friend @jimmykimmel & it has a happy ending. I love him & his whole family.” Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland also sent her love, tweeting QUOTE, “All the light and love to you and your family @jimmykimmel!”
Meanwhile Hillary Clinton commented on Jimmy’s powerful message about health care, writing QUOTE, “Watch & prepare to tear up. Thanks @jimmykimmel for sharing your story & reminding us what’s at stake w/health care.” While actor Josh Gad--aka Olaf himself-- simply wrote, “This just made me sob.” We’re right there with you, Josh.
