Sometimes as fans we think our favorite celebs are our friends because we relate to their music, their show, or their movie. And apparently, the feeling is mutual because Billie Eilish just admitted that she forgets her fans aren’t all actually her friends. What’s up? It’s Dani Golub here with Clevver News and as much as we’d all love to be BFFs with Billie Eilish, unfortunately most of us probably haven’t had the chance to hangout with her.But like I said, it’s pretty common for diehard fans to feel they are friends with their favorite celebrity.Especially in this age of social media and being so connected, trust me, if you’ve felt like this before I’m right there with ya.In my head, Taylor Swift and I have been besties since 5th grade and know everything about each other. But that just simply ain’t the case.Apparently though, for Billie, she feels so close to her fans that she forgets that her fans aren’t her friends in real life.In a new interview with Variety she opened up about touring and the sacrifices she’s made at such a young age to pursue her passion. And it’s worth noting that Variety is honoring Billie in this issue as their third annual Hitmaker of the Year.Just another feather she can put in her cap when it comes to this year’s achievements, like you know, just her SIX Grammy nominations. Ugh I can’t wait to see her SWEEP.Ok anyway, while Billie, who’s only 17 years old, has brought some of her friends and family on the road with her, she also gets a similar friendly feeling from her fans.Billie also explained some of the weirdness that comes along with thinking fans are her friends and vice versa. But Billie recognizes that they didn’t intend to be mean at all, they just really feel that close to her.And she realizes her role is different though. While her fans can poke fun at her, she can’t really do the same. And Billie also knows the more serious negatives that come with this sort of relationship with her fans. She strives to have a healthy artist/fan relationship where there’s room from human connection, but also respect for her privacy. She talked about one group of girls in particular that she’s connected with.So again, it’s never cool to follow someone to their hotel, but I guess this was the exception. But it isn’t just this group of girls that Billie feels connected to and friends with. And I love that. We see you Billie and we are honored to be considered your friends. But Billie wasn’t the only one featured in Variety. Her brother and co-writer/producer Finneas was also interviewed by the outlet. And in case you didn’t know, nearly every song Billie has ever released was co-written with and produced by Finneas. Don’t believe me? Well, Billie has said so many times herself. And she always credits and affectionately introduces him at concerts as quote “my big brother and my best friend.”Awww I love these two! And Finneas loves his sister and appreciates the fans being so aware of their creative process.Finneas also looked back on how he and Billie started working together.
He said that he had already been writing for several years when they first started working together. Then they recorded and posted a song that Finneas had written called “Ocean Eyes” — which is when Billie started to shoot to fame in November of 2015. The song, which has since racked up more than 30 million streams on SoundCloud and the music video has over 180 million views on YouTube. And while things are obviously a bit different for them now, Finneas talked about how the process is still the same. And like all great songwriting pairs, they each bring very different yet complementary elements to the table. And whatever they are doing is CLEARLY working for them, so I say they just keep on keeping on.We can’t wait to see what’s to come next year for both Billie and Finneas. I’m certain it’s going to be a big one for that family. So, I want to know what you guys think.Did you already know that Billie and Finneas work on all her music together?
