The Dewan Negara, which is controlled by BN, has unexpectedly passed the Sales Bill 2018 which is one of the five bills related to the return of the Sales and Service Tax (SST).
The bill was passed through a voice vote. It is unclear if any senator opposed the bill, which was opposed by BN MPs at the lower house.
There are 32 BN senators and three PAS senators out of 55 in the Dewan Negara currently.
