Brad Pitt Issues Statement After Divorce Announcement

Brad Pitt releases his first statement after Angelina’s divorce filing, plus find out what lead to their split...
While everyone is still in denial over the fact that Brangelina is over, it’s getting even more official with a statement from Brad Pitt himself…
After news broke that Angelina had filed for divorce from Brad over what she cited as irreconcilable differences, Brad Pitt made his first statement to People Magazine, saying QUOTE, "I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."
Wow, from that statement it sounds like the decision for the pair to divorce was NOT a mutual one! It also sounds like both Brad and Angelina are putting their kids first, because both actors separately asked the press to respect their children’s privacy. So at least they’re on the same page there? Aaaahhh, why is this happening?!
Well, apparently it sounds like there might be a few different factors at play. Angelina’s rep released a statement on the matter earlier saying QUOTE, “...This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time.”
While that statement does explain that Angelina’s decision to divorce was for the “health of the family”, it still leaves things sounding pretty vague. But one source close to the situation clarified things a little bit, explaining to People magazine that the pair didn’t always see eye to eye on their parenting styles, saying QUOTE, "They always had disagreements when it came to disciplining the kids...With all the kids, it did tend to get chaotic many times...[Pitt] has always been stricter, and wanted the kids to have more structure". Now, the source did made it clear that Brad never used any kind of physical discipline, but did allege that he would QUOTE, "get frustrated sometimes and yell at the kids." Meanwhile, it seems that Angelina took a less strict approach to raising their children. The source explained QUOTE, "Angelina always had a more relaxed attitude when it came to the kids. She definitely never yells.” Well, if this IS true, they wouldn’t be the first to divorce over differing parenting styles...
Previous reports from a source at TMZ alleged that the reason for the split was due to Angelina being fed up with Brad’s marijuana and alcohol abuse, as well as her assertion that he has an anger problem, which she felt was becoming dangerous for the kids. Of course, for now all of these reasons are simply allegations, as nothing has been confirmed from Brad or Angelina’s camp. But whatever the real reason for the split is, Angelina wants full custody of the children, and is asking the court to only grant Brad legal custody with visitation rights. Which is a pretty big deal.
Dang you guys, this is a lot to take in. Brangelina have been the Golden Couple of Hollywood since 2004! But it’s just a reminder that the only two people who really know what’s going on behind closed doors in a relationship is the couple themselves...
