The former member of 5th harmony gets candid about the heartbreaking loss of friendship in a recent interview.
She’s been hurt, she started to heal and she’s about to love.
Our girl Camila’s cover interview with Flaunt magazine is everything, and she really exposed the pain she’s felt since leaving Fifth Harmony, but also addressed her need to do it.
She acknowledged that part of the reason she left was that she realized QUOTE “, ‘I’m not happy where I am now. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future but I can’t stay here.’ And took it upon herself to make moves. She’s really focused on songwriting for her solo album, and absolutely credits her time in Fifth Harmony with her curiosity for oingwriting and intense work ethich with which she approached the album. Of the dynamics in the group, she said, QUOTE “There’s a healthy amount of competitiveness that exists within a group,” she says. “Everybody wants to add something to the table.”
It’s no secret that Camila’s departure from the group was damaging to her friendship with the other girls, but the now solo artist has just revealed that her May single “I have Questions” is not about a romantic breakup as you may have initially thought. Rather, it’s about a friendship ending. She went on to say that she personally feels that friendship breakups are significantly worse than romantic ones, saying QUOTE
"In a romantic relationship you think, this is amazing, this is beautiful, I love this person, but there's a part of you that's always prepared for it to end. I feel with a friendship you think it's going to last forever. You start to consider that person like your family and so you don't see an end to that. So when it's like a shocking or abrupt ending that's worse."
Although she didn’t explicitly say it was about the end of her friendship with the group, it seems pretty likely to us. Not to worry though, Camila acknowledged that creating this album really saved her, sayinh QUOTE “Through the process of writing it and getting it off my chest I was confronting it for the first time. There’s no separation between who I am as an artist and who I am as a person. So once I feel I’m done with a project that talks about one thing, I’m completely done.” Well, The Hurting, The Healing, The Loving is done, and we can’t wait for it to drop on September 22nd!
Well, what do you think? Was Camila referencing the breakup with Fifth Harmony or a different relationship in I Have Questions? Which do you think is worse – romantic or friendship breakups?
