Court grants stay on Najib's SRC trial

Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's trial in relation to the seven charges over SRC International Sdn Bhd scheduled tomorrow will not proceed.
This came after the Court of Appeal in Putrajaya unanimously allowed Najib's stay application pending his appeal over the withdrawal of a certificate of transfer by the public prosecutor.
The three-member bench led by Justice Ahmadi Asnawi ruled that the prosecutor risked having the trial nugatory due to the withdrawal of the certificate.
In his ruling, Justice Ahmadi said the submission made by Najib's lead counsel Muhammad Shafee Abdullah has merit and that there are special circumstances for the court to allow the application.
