Harry Styles hasn’t even released his new album yet, and already fans are speculating that one of the songs is about his most famous ex, Taylor Swift.
Fans went into a frenzy after Harry shared his tracklist for his upcoming self-titled album, and it wasn’t just because they were excited about his solo debut. The eighth song on the album list is titled “Ever Since New York”, and immediately fans began speculating that the track will be about his relationship with Taylor Swift.
The speculation comes out of the fact that Taylor’s last album, 1989, featured a song called “Welcome to New York”, leading fans to presume that Harry’s song is some kind of rebuttal or sequel.
Another reason for the theory is that Taylor and Harry were photographed in New York together, and that’s where their romance presumably began in November 2012. Of course, they called it quits not long after in January 2013, after a holiday went wrong and Taylor was infamously photographed leaving their vacay spot on a boat, completely solo. I guess “Ever Since the Boat” would have been too obvious a title--good call, Harry.
But as for whether this fan theory is true or not, we’ll just have to wait until next month to over-analyze every single word in the song. And even then, he’ll probably be just as discreet and mischievous with his lyrics as Taylor is. It’s like they know it drives us crazy, and they like it. Damn these sadistic pop stars we love so much!
So what do you guys think? Is it just a coincidence or do you think the track will be about his romance with Taylor? And if so, do you think it’ll be sweet, bitter, or somewhere in between?
