Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh said a thorough study must be done before implementing the 'Madani White Rice' proposal as he believes this will only benefit 'cartels'.

Akmal in a video posted on Facebook yesterday voiced concerns about abolishing the local white rice category, which is currently sold cheaper than the proposed price for the Madani rice.

He pointed out that the new Madani rice will be more expensive, starting at RM3.50 for 1kg of rice compared to the RM2.60 maximum price for SST.
