Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said if any Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) members were to be awarded government contracts, it would be based on merit.
The Bersatu chairman said government contracts that were given to party members would have to follow the proper tender processes.
He said in a press conference after the Bersatu annual general meeting on Dec 30.
Dr Mahathir was responding to questions about the apparent clash between party vice chief Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman and Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman over the awarding of contracts to party members.
