The La La Land-themed promposal seen round the Twittersphere earlier this week has officially landed in the hands of its target, Emma Stone, so did she accept?!
La La Land teaches us to shoot for the stars, and Jacob is living proof that if you set your mind to something, you’ll eventually reach whichever star you set your mind to.
After falling in love with the Oscar-winning musical La La Land, Arizona high school student Jacob Staudenmaier crafted up a flawless recreation of the film’s opening scene with the help of his junior class that went viral earlier this week.
In the video, Jacob promised to wine and dine Emma at a 5-star Olive Garden feast and even referenced his resemblance to her costar Ryan Gosling. He recalled one of his classmates previously saying he looked like the actor in Remember the Titans, saying QUOTE, “We took a picture next to it and everyone was like, 'Yeah you look like him.' I felt like incorporating that into the song, since she starred in the movie with him.”
Although Jacob admits he didn’t quite see the resemblance, he still took it as a compliment, saying, “If I get compared to him. I have no problem with that!” The process took two weeks to produce from start to finish, and Jacob revealed that, “Whether Emma says yes or no, I think just a response in general would be amazing. I guess if she did say yes, that would be the best outcome possible. Either way I've enjoyed everything that's happened so far.”
But thanks to the power of social media and everyone who helped relay the video directly to Emma, the actress DID get ahold of it and DID send back a response. Jacob appeared on Good Morning America just this morning to read the message aloud, to which Emma kindly responded QUOTE, “Jacob, thanks for making the greatest proposal I have ever received. I can't tell you what an honor that was and how much I smiled through that entire beautifully orchestrated video. I'm in London working, but I hope you have the best time at prom, and I'm grateful you thought of me. Thank you. P.S. I do see Gosling around the eyes. Love, Emma.”
So it may not have been the response Jacob was hoping for, BUT it was the sweetest responses nonetheless. Jacob admitted he plans on attending his junior prom stag, and that he’s going to have a great time with his friends, but on the bright side, there’s always senior year!
