Emma Watson celebrated International Women’s Day by beatboxing and freestyling with Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda.
And you guys- it couldn’t be more adorable… or impressive!
As the UN Women’s Global Goodwill Ambassador, Emma sat down with Lin to promote her gender equality initiative, HeForShe. Emma is a huge fan of the musical Hamilton, which Lin stars in, so she took the opportunity to ask Lin about his freestyle skills. He offered to rap for her but only if she beatboxed for him, and because Emma Watson is amazing, she agreed to give it a go.
After getting out a few embarrassed giggles, Emma begins her beatboxing as Lin spits spot-on lyrics such as, “Like women are half of the people on Earth / And yes they should've been equal since birth. That means all day, every day, equal pay, every way”. #Preach, Lin, Preach! And while Emma confesses she’s a total beatboxing novice, she keeps up the beat and clearly has a great time doing it. Wow. Just wow. And thus, a meme is born. But this one is for a good cause, which makes it all the more important for this meme to go viral and get seen by everyone! And then if it just happens to inspire Emma and Lin to go on an international freestyling tour with the rest of the Hamilton cast, all of our lives can be complete! Hey, we can dream, right? But for now we’ll just have to watch this video on repeat all day.
