Gigi Hadid Takes Stand Against Body Shaming

In what has been a huge shock to Gigi’s fans and supporters like myself – the model is opening up about people on social media who have been bombarding her with body-shaming comments. And if you’re like me, at this point you’re probably like “seriously, what? Are we talking about the same person? Because body shaming is always wrong, but on the real Gigi is a goddess.”
Sadly though, this is true. Gigi took to Instagram in the days leading up to Paris Fashion week to say that some of the negative comments have gotten to her, but that she came to the realization that when she got to that point, it was QUOTE important to rethink why you're doing what you do. What your message is. What you have to say.
Then she added this: No, I don't have the same body type as other models in shows. No, I don't think I'm the best at any given shows. Yes, I want to have a unique walk but I also know I have to improve. No, I'm not the first or the last model of my type in this industry, You can make up all the reasons you think I am where I am, but really, I'm a hard worker that's confident in myself, one that came at a time where the fashion industry was ready for a change."
Then, in an empowering move that I am OBSESSED with and one that I respect so deeply, she essentially said she will not change who she is because top designers want her in their shows. SO there you go – did you miss the memo on how wildly successful she is? Or how hard working she is? Because you might want to take note. Another thing I love is that the 20 year old finished off her whole stance on a positive note – saying that she’d rather focus on things that inspire people and that she wants to be a part of the change that is undeniably happening. I just want to say that I’m definitely on board for that and I am so proud of Gigi – such a great role model to people of all ages. What did you guys think?
