Ariel Winter Speaks Out Against Body Shaming

Ariel Winter is so over body shaming and honestly, so are we.
In a new interview with Stylish, Ariel is opening up about the bullying and body shaming she received as a young teen. The 18-year-old actress said QUOTE, “I was called every name in the book: fat, a slut, trashy, ugly. Right after I started developing, I automatically started getting all this hate.” “And as I got older, it only seemed to get worse.”
Ariel has previously talked openly about the breast reduction surgery she had in 2015. Now, in an effort to squash body shamers, the ‘Modern Family’ actress has teamed up with Dove’s Self Esteem Project to help women appreciate and understand their bodies. She’s the new leader of Dove’s #SpeakBeautiful squad, a campaign that encourages positive conversations about women on social media.
Ariel said, “We’re empowering young women to love themselves, to be comfortable with themselves. And it's not just about [liking] what they look like, but loving who they are."
Preach, girl! It is tough to be a woman in 2016. Ariel revealed that she receives a lot of messages from other girls struggling with self-love and body acceptance. She told the publication, “There are a lot of young women who are going through the same thing that I went through, and I think it's important that we all empower each other. It makes it easier.”
