Jane the Virgin’s Gina Rodriguez talks Britney Spears, calls BS on Hollywood’s beauty standards, and proves she is everyone’s spirit animal.
If JLaw is America’s sweetheart then I think Gina Rodriguez is the EARTH’S sweetheart, because her kindness and her realness know no bounds.
Clearly she’s adorable and that’s why we all want her as our best friend, but her new interview with Yahoo will have you peeing in your pants with adoration for her. When discussing her life altering milestone of winning the Best Actress Golden Globe back in 2015, host Joe Zee asked her about her crying so hard backstage that her eye lashes fell off. And she totally owned up to it.
That’s when she started talking about the pressure in Hollywood to be a size 2. QUOTE: “Of course I’ve fallen into the pressure. If you look like this swimsuit model, then you’re hot and everybody’s going to want you and money’s going to flow through and everything’s going to be grand and dandy!’ That’s bulls–t!” she said. Then she added:
PREACH! I wish I could say preach in all the languages. Thank you Gina for keeping it REAL and authentic and giving us permission to embrace our natural beauty instead of trying to alter your genetics with 10 surgeries and diets. Now obvi another pivotal moment in her life is working with Britney Spears on Jane the Virgin! She’s a huge fan and this is what she said about it.
When asked what other celeb she’s like to come do a cameo on the show she said Prince Royce! Because the show doesn’t have enough hot leading men? Get it gurl. Livin the life, Gina. Slay. And just so you know, G-Rod is launching her own lingerie line called Naja. The team behind it is 30 women from Colombia who stay at home, take care of their kids and hand make these beautiful designs. So by wearing one of her bras you’re making the world a better place. And speaking of her clothes, a fan recently tweeted to Gina that she wanted to wear Gina’s 2016 Golden Globes gown to her prom. Gina actually responded and said, “Where do you live? I only own my first globes dress the one from last year...maybe we can make this happen.” Then… she made it happen. Gina sent the gurl her gazillion dollar dress that she won her GG’s IN!
