Harry Styles kicked off his solo tour in San Francisco, California this week, and attending fans pointed out something very unusual at the merch table. It wasn’t the pink t-shirts embroidered with Harry’s name, or the cool black tee with the words ‘treat people with kindness,’...No, the aesthetic of the merch was on point--it was the price tag that fired some fans up.
A few Harry stans pointed out that the extra small, small, and medium sized shirts were priced at 40 dollars, meanwhile the larges and above cost 45. Naturally, the fans were like, WTF?!
One fan angrily wrote QUOTE, “ummm, whose idea was it to charge an extra $5 for a bigger t-shirt because they need to be fired and choked.” While another wrote QUOTE, “I love Harry, but charging $40 for a tshirt and making larger fans pay $5 more for theirs is not “treating people with kindness.” Fair point, which is why we’re really glad to report that this whole thing has since been rectified.
That’s right, before you take sides in #HarryMerchGate, ready to defend the prices or start dragging the person who priced the T-shirts all over Twitter, it turns out that the t-shirt pricing at Harry’s first show was just a mistake. The Live Nation Merchandise team put out a statement that said QUOTE, “There was a mistake in size pricing at last night’s show. Harry and his team were unaware and this has now been rectified.” Thank GOODNESS Harry and his team didn’t have a hand in this, because frankly I don’t want to live in a world where Harry isn’t 100% perfect at all times.
So what do you guys think of the merch debacle? And which item are you dying to get a hold of while Harry’s on tour?
