2016 has been one heck of a year both good and bad, so you know Twitter documented it all in full meme detail, but you may be surprised at which tweets were actually the most popular. In fact, the most retweeted remark of 2016 was from a Spanish gamer named Elrubius who simply tweeted – “Limonada” which was then retweeted 1.3 million times. Story goes that the retweets came rolling in after the gamer started promising people prizes for retweeting his tweet.
The second most popular tweet came from none other than Harry Styles who quoted his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift on his birthday saying QUOTE - “I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22.” Riveting. Hilary Clinton’s concession speech tweet then came in third receiving over 630,000 retweets when she said QUOTE - "To all the little girls watching...never doubt that you are valuable and powerful & deserving of every chance & opportunity in the world." Other top tweets of the year include Louis Tomlinson’s first picture of his son, J.K. Rowling’s tribute to Alan Rickman, and Kim Kardashian celebrating national snake day by referring to Taylor Swift following the infamous snapchat fiasco saying QUOTE - ”Wait it’s legit National Snake Day?!?!?
