Instagram announces a major update that promises to bring back posts in chronological order.
I almost thought this day would never come, but alas, our cries have been heard.
If you can recall, back in the good old days, Instagram feeds were simply chronological, meaning you viewed them in the order they were posted. You know, the most logical way to view posts.
In the order they are posted
Then, 2 years ago, Instagram announced their “groundbreaking” new algorithm that was supposedly going to filter our timelines to display posts that it thought we wanted to see at the top of our feeds, regardless of when they were posted. But you know what they say…
You can’t trust technology, folks.
Many users complained that posts from DAYS past were constantly popping up first, and current posts were being overlooked. It made no sense, and the internet lost all chill. So after 2 years, Instagram has finally decided to make a major change.
Insta’s going chronological again!
Well, for the most part. While the app hasn’t promised that it will get rid of the algorithm altogether, it is updating it so that newer posts will take priority over your mom’s dinner flat lay from last week. In a post to their blog, Instagram announced QUOTE “Based on your feedback, we’re also making changes to ensure that newer posts are more likely to appear first in feed. With these changes, your feed will feel more fresh, and you won’t miss the moments you care about.”
Well, I for one am grateful, because I go on Instagram to see what’s happening… right now! But only time will tell if this new update restores Instagram to it’s original glory.
