The internet is freaking out after someone tweeted a photo of the Standard Hotel’s address in New York City saying QUOTE - "I'm at The Standard where Solange beat Jay-Z's ass in the elevator. THE ADDRESS IS 444. I AM SHOOK.” The infamous fight went down following the Met Gala back in 2014. Jay of course references the beat down on his song “Kill Jay Z” on 4:44 where he raps - "You egged Solange on / Knowin' all along all you had to say you was wrong."
Jay did give his own explanation as to why he named the album 4:44 during an interview with iHeartRadio. He said QUOTE – “4:44′ is a song that I wrote, and it’s the crux of the album, just right in the middle of the album. And I woke up, literally, at 4:44 in the morning, 4:44 AM, to write this song. So it became the title of the album and everything. It’s the title track because it’s such a powerful song, and I just believe one of the best songs I’ve ever written.”
But that didn’t stop fans from pouring in with variety of their own theories. Many Beyhive members and Jay-Z fans know that the number 4 is significant for B and J for a number of reasons including their wedding anniversary, so many think that had an impact on the title of the album. Some think it’s to pay homage to Obama because he was the 44th president. Then of course Jay and Beyonce were both born on the 4th of two different months, but I’m still sticking with the elevator location as my favorite theory. The tweet that started that theory has been shared over 11,000 times so it looks like I’m not alone in my favoritism. But I want to hear what you guys think. How eerie is it that 444 is the address of the hotel where the elevator fight occurred? Sound off in the comment section below and don’t forget to subscribe.
