Not only Jen, but thankfully NOBODY on board was harmed during the landing of this aircraft.
Jennifer Lawrence’s visit to her hometown took a turn for the worst on Saturday as she was taking time off to visit her family in Louisville, Kentucky, when her private plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Buffalo, New York, due to not one, but BOTH engines failing.
A rep for the actress revealed that Jen was leaving Louisville on Saturday while mid-flight at 31,000 feet in the air, one of the plane’s engines failed, causing the pilots to make the emergency stop in Buffalo. However, during the landing, the plane’s second engine also failed.
The FAA, which generally does not release names of passengers on board flights, released a statement on Sunday about the incident, saying QUOTE, “A Hawker Beechcraft B40 aircraft landed safely at Buffalo Niagara International Airport in New York at about 1:40 pm on Saturday. The crew diverted to Buffalo when they declared an emergency due to engine-related issues. The flight was heading to Teterboro Airport in New Jersey from Louisville, Kentucky.”
The statement also added that the FAA is set to investigate the incident. Jen left the incident completely unharmed, despite emergency vehicles waiting as the plane landed. ABC News Aviation expert Col. Steve Ganyard spoke out, saying that if, in fact, all the details from this alarming incident are true, this is an “extremely rare” case. He added that QUOTE, “"Airplanes have two engines because occasionally one fails, but two engines are not supposed to fail, but anytime you have both engines on a twin engine airplane stop working, it obviously has the potential for disaster.”
Until more details are confirmed, we’re just happy to hear that Jen and the crew are safe and unharmed, so right now I want to hear all your thoughts on the terrifying incident, and be sure to share some love for Jen right down here in the comments.
