Kanye West and his touring company, Very Good Touring Inc., are filing a HUGE lawsuit against the company chosen to insure his last tour. Back in November when Kanye cancelled the remainder of the Saint Pablo Tour due to a psychological breakdown, the rapper and his team filed a loss claim that wasn’t completely paid out by the insurance company.
In Yeezy’s lawsuit against Lloyds of London, the insurance company, Kanye and his team alleged that the company is stalling to keep from paying Kanye and his company. In the court documents, Ye’s team wrote QUOTE, “More than eight months later, the insurers have neither paid on the multi-million dollar claim nor denied the claim. Nor have they provided anything approaching a coherent explanation about why they have not paid, or any indication if they will ever pay or even make a coverage decision, implying that Kanye’s use of marijuana may provide them with a basis to deny the claim and retain the hundreds of thousands of dollars in insurance premiums paid by Very Good.”
The suit also goes on to reveal that even though Kanye’s physician at the UCLA hospital told the insurance company that Kanye was in no condition to continue with the tour, the people of Lloyds of London were apparently not satisfied with this assessment and asked for a second opinion.
While lawsuit claims that the doctor that Lloyds of London chose was QUOTE, “predisposed to look for some reason to deny the claim,” the insurance company’s chosen doctor ultimately ended up with the same conclusion as Kanye’s primary physician.
Aside from all the legal drama, the lawsuit also revealed new information about the days ‘Ye spent in the hospital following his psychological breakdown. According to the lawsuit, Kanye spent eight days at the UCLA hospital and still sees his physician on a regular basis. If Ye is still seeing his physician on the regular, it’s safe to say he isn’t trying to swindle the insurance company out of a bunch of money.
What do you guys think of all this? Do you think the insurance company is dragging this issue out or should Kanye and his team just be patient and wait for their payout?
