[KiniNews] Transport Minister Anthony Loke has slammed Singaporean comedian Jocelyn Chia over her joke on the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

Speaking at a press conference today, Loke said her comments were highly insensitive and rude.

“What the comedian said was rude, insolent and inhumane because she used the tragedy as the brunt of her joke. The tragedy involved more than 200 lives and nobody in their right mind would do such a thing,“ he said.

Loke said that even though Chia felt it was a joke, every joke should have its limits and they should not exploit any tragedy.

Meanwhile, Singapore’s High Commissioner to Malaysia Vanu Gopala Menon said he is appalled by the “gratuitously offensive comments” on Malaysia and the missing flight MH370 made by Chia.

He said her statement does not in any way reflect Singapore’s view and apologised to all Malaysians for her hurtful remarks.

Chia had mocked Malaysia and made fun of the MH370 tragedy in a recent comedy show titled ‘Singapore vs Malaysia’ held in New York.
