[KiniNews] The Umno supreme council sacked Isham Jalil from the party last night.

Three sources who attended Umno's supreme council meeting yesterday confirmed the matter with Malaysiakini, saying the decision was made via consensus.

A source said many of Isham's actions breached party rules, including criticising the leadership openly and labelling the party as 'barua DAP' (DAP's lackeys) in his latest statement.

Meanwhile, in a separate story, Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the party will continue to strengthen and defend the coalition government.

"The supreme council also attests that all (Umno) MPs and assemblypersons will support the party's stance to support the leadership of Anwar Ibrahim as the prime minister, and the leader of the coalition government," he said.
