#KiniNews: Zahid vows to act against Umno rep at PN event; Hamzah says 'tyranny' won't stop him

[KiniNews] Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the party leadership will act against Rembia state assemblyperson Muhammad Jailani Khamis, who attended a Perikatan Nasional campaign event in Johor on Wednesday.

Zahid told reporters that he had been informed on the matter and it is being investigated.

Previously, it was reported that Jailani had said that he was representing Muafakat Nasional and his presence at the PN event did not mean he plans to leave Umno.

Defecting will likely violate Malaccan laws, which will require him to vacate his seat and trigger a by-election.

Meanwhile, in a separate story, opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin has confirmed that the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has frozen bank accounts belonging to him and his wife since yesterday.

The Bersatu secretary-general claimed the freezing of the accounts is a desperate attempt by the government to continue pressuring Perikatan Nasional, which is gaining the people’s trust.
