After an incredible career, Kobe Bryant has officially announced his retirement
The Lakers legend is receiving support from fans and famous friends all over the world after confirming that this basketball season will be his last
Over the weekend, Kobe Bryant released a poem entitled 'Dear Basketball' to publicly announce his retirement from the sport. The poem, in part, reads
"This season is all I have left to give. My heart can take the pounding. My mind can handle the grind.But my body knows it’s time to say goodbye.”
Bryant, who has been a Laker for the past 20 years, will further address his decision to retire this week on Good Morning America, but in the meantime, many familiar faces have taken to twitter to congratulate Kobe Bryant on his outstanding contributions to the LA team.
Gigi Hadid tweeted ‘Bittersweet! @KobeBryant feels like home to anyone who grew up a @Lakers fan. All good things must come to an end. Love the Bryant family.’ Justin Timberlake referred to Bryant as quote “One of the TRUE KINGS of the game. You are one the greatest to ever do it, my friend.” Lupe Fiasco also tweeted ‘Shout to @kobebryant on his illustrious career in the NBA!’
More well-wishes poured in from fellow pro-athletes, and the Lakers head coach, Byron Scott, said that upon hearing the news he was quote ‘sad more than anything.’
At this time, Kobe Bryant has no plans of finishing out his pro-basketball career overseas, stating that he wants to be a Laker for life.
