Miley Cyrus Strips Down For Maya & Marty Premiere & Parodies 'Goodnight Moon'

Miley Cyrus among many other big names are the first ever to guest star on the new SNL-inspired variety show Maya and Marty, and not to our surprise, she completely stole the spotlight.
But really though, what better celebs to have on a pilot show than Miley Cyrus, Tom Hanks and Jimmy Fallon? We’re officially in for one heck of a season!
The NBC Variety show Maya and Marty headlined by SNL alumn Maya Rudolph and Martin Short, kicked off last night with a very special premiere featuring the one and only Miley Cyrus, where she pretty much nailed it all from sketches, to performances, to making us laugh uncontrollably. She starred in the popular children’s book Goodnight Moon sketch, as Maya played the drunk neighbor with an uncontrollable desire for the munchies, who stops by as Nanna is saying goodnight, and I gotta say, if this book were written nowadays, I’d say it’s pretty accurate…
The two also sang a gender-bending medley together, when Miley kicked off the performance in a glittery tuxedo, singing a smoky rendition of Leonard Cohen’s 1988 track “I’m Your Man” and later switching things up in a more scantily clad leotard with Peggy Lee’s female empowerment anthem “I’m a Woman” joined by Maya.
Other sketches included Jimmy Fallon playing a goofy twin alongside Martin Short and Kenan Thompson, and Tom Hanks playing a fake astronaut. Future sketches will include Drake fresh off of his SNL hosting gig and of course many more celebs.
And although this is their first of many shows, Maya and Martin Short are no strangers to the late night comedy sketch series. They performed together at the SNL 40 Anniversary special, and Maya even starred in her own variety special two years ago.
The two hosts gushed about each other after working together for quite some time, Maya saying, “It’s a dream come true for me for many reasons, one is that he is one of the people who made me want to do what I’m doing. Also, he’s one of the most joyful people to do it with.”
Martin even added that to him, Maya is “an insane genius,’ joking that QUOTE, “Every time we do anything, any sketch or any character that she does is the perfect choice and steals the scene. For a while I thought it was fun and great, and now I’m kind of full of resentment.”
So look out SNL, because Maya and Marty is about to take late night television by storm and we can’t wait to see what’s in store.
