Prominent lawyer Tan Sri Dr Muhammad Shafee Abdullah told a press conference at the Duta Court Complex on Thursday that the four charges levelled against him, which includes money laundering, are nonsense as the prosecution would have to prove that he was aware the payments amounting to RM9.5mil from former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak between 2013 and 2014 had been taken from proceeds of illegal activities. He also said the charges were prompted by “some people” including PKR supremo Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
