房地部部长阿都拉曼以日本焚化炉建在学校为例，嘲讽王建民指甲洞焚化炉不安全的说法。但王建民反驳，联合国环境资料显示，日本空气中的二恶英是其他工业国的10倍，而且环境部规定焚化炉的缓冲区一般是500米。而吉隆坡不要焚化炉行动委员也指出，焚化炉不一定百分百安全，上海和新加坡的焚化炉最近就发生事故，而且建设焚化炉也必须考虑周围的土壤及河流环境。
