Is One Direction cashing in on some 5 SOS? Looks that way! It was recently revealed that 1D has a stake in 5 Seconds of Summer’s profits. Documents confirm that Liam and Louis are directors of the company that registered the 5SOS trademark. In other words, Louis and Liam own a 50% stake in the profits along with a 10% share in the company EACH.
I’m guessing this may play a slight role in the motivation behind their steady support for 5SOS. We know they’ve sent numerous tweets and posts supporting their Aussie pals, like this one from last spring where Louis said, “Hearing 5SOS on the radio is a great way to start the day. Proud of you lads!! New 5SOS single “Don’t Stop’ is out now! Loving the track guys, go check it out.”
Sources say that Harry, Zayn, and Niall also have stakes in the deal so basically this should put an end to the whole 1D fandom verses 5SOS fandom riff because by supporting one, you’re already killing two birds with one stone. Or you know, something less violent. Mo’ money for everyone! And I honestly don’t think 1D’s support is solely based on business. I think they honestly wish the best for 5SOS and want to see them be successful. It’s just a cherry on top of the cake that they get to cash in on it too. Who knew??
