"Outlander" on Starz - Highest Ratings EVER For Network

Time travel drama, “Outlander” kills it in ratings and is setting a new record for the Starz network! The time traveling new series has become the network’s most popular series premiere ever. The show kicked off Saturday night to an estimated viewing audience of 720,00 and a total of 2.3 million over the whole weekend. And interestingly enough, the network reported that about 51% of the audience was female. Now how they know that is a mystery to me Are we being watched while we’re watching??
But get this, since the successful weekend, online outlets and affiliate services reported that an additional 1.4 million views have come in, bringing the grand total to a growing 3.7 million. Holy popular. The last time Starz had such a hit was with “Black Sails” that drew in 3.5 million viewers. The show is based in the novels by Diana Gabaldon and follows a WWII nurse who gets transported back to the year 1743 in Scotland.
The successful new addition to the network’s family is scheduled to have a 16 episode run airing on Saturday nights at 9 p.m. And from the looks of those growing numbers, no doubt that a season two is already being drafted.
