Both PAS and Umno will be better off as a check and balance to the other rather than together as coalition partners, a senior PAS leader said last night.
PAS research director Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki said this is based on the outcome of the 14th general election, where his party and Umno emerged as the two largest Malay-based parties in Parliament and several state assemblies.
"PAS and Umno are two large Malay parties. PAS and Umno represents almost 75 percent of Malay support.
"Therefore, I see that PAS and Umno cannot be together (in a coalition)," he said during a packed ‘The Future of Islam Under a Pakatan Harapan government’ forum organised by NGO Ikram in Shah Alam.
