The Penang state legislative assembly was told today that the state government has approved a Special Financial Assistance payment amounting to half a month's pay or a minimum of RM1,000 as an appreciation and recognition of civil servants in the state.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the payment involves 3,867 civil servants in the state and a financial implication of RM6.045 million.
