More great news for PLL fans who are still mourning the loss of our favorite show… Caleb, uh, Tyler Blackburn has officially signed on to join the cast of The CW’s reboot of the 90’s teen drama, Roswell. And he’s not the only TV cutie coming to town. According to reports, The Originals’ Nathan Parsons will be taking on the role of the show’s leading man, opposite Grey’s Anatomy’s Jeanine Mason. And get ready, because just like the original Roswell TV show that ran from 1999-2002 and captured the hearts of hopelessly romantic teenagers everywhere, the show will have ONE very distinctive characteristic… extraterrestrials.
And this time around, there will be an immigration twist at the core of the show’s plot. The logline reads “After reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of undocumented immigrants discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: he’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.”
That alien police officer is Nathan Parsons, and yes, you heard right… He’s an alien. Which clearly means things are going to be very difficult for them. Meanwhile, Tyler Blackburn will be portraying Sgt. Alex Manes, a soldier, who comes back to Roswell after war. According to Deadline, the show finds Blackburn’s character QUOTE “Returning home from the Middle East after experiencing his fair share of psychological and physical trauma, Alex aims to adhere to his father’s expectations, abandoning his dreams and the possibility of a future with the man he loves.”
Wow. Sounds like this show is going to make me cry… a lot. I should be prepared though. After all, I survived 7 seasons of all the feelings during Pretty Little Liars.
