What a beautiful day and great opportunity to to get my dual MOA (motor on axle) Vintage Tonka RV Truck out for its first test. I have a backyard course that I continue to work on for my 1/10th scale radio control trucks and it is full of ups and downs, twists and turns.
This truck weighs 16lbs, and is quite tall. It body is made of pressed steel and the axles I have chosen are full aluminum, including the steering assembley. I have installed steering servos into each axle, giving this truck full steering capability - front, and rear.
The truck is powered by a 11.1v 3s Lithium Polymer battery, and each each axle is powered individually by Tekin 30t Hand Wound Brushed Motors. The entire truck has been waterproofed.
Overall, I was exceptionally pleased with how stable this truck was. I figured it would have been rolling over all day long, but to my surprise, it handled like a Big Bus with beefy tires. The rear steer certainly makes this truck more agile and gives it the extra traction it needs.
More testing to come. I would like to do the same track with a trailer attached. Once I get it dialed in, I can take it on a true RC ADVENTURE!
