Click to Subscribe! ► - Many times in the hobby we need to fabricate items that are not readily available. Today, we are going to fashion a set of skid plates to cover the motors and motor wires of my DeWalt 18v Brushed motors on my Killer Krawler 2, from RC4WD. Recently, I upgraded my full sized Polaris RZR XP4 1000 - and changed the skid plate out for something thicker. I kept the older skid plates as material I could use around the ranch. Making skid plates for my KK2 is the perfect fit for what I saved this material for. My friends Everett and John have stopped by the RC ranch today to give me a hand repairing some of my rigs.
In this film John demonstrated template making, cutting and grinding to help shape and mould the skid plates as we fab them up. Then we mount them onto some existing brackets to make use of the hardware and holes already available on the KK2. John also shares a variety of tips and tricks during this film, to better help viewers be inspired to try fabrication of parts they need. All it takes is a few tools, material, and creativity!
The Killer Krawler 2 is a HUGE machine. The videos do not do it justice. Every time a new viewer of the show comes to the studio, the first thing that is mentioned is "WOW, that thing is WAY Bigger then I thought".. follow by "Holy SH!T! It is SO Heavy!".. Haha..
So many people ask me about the machines I use in my films, so I have provided some information below.
