An estimated RM10mil in heritage properties in George Town may forever be frozen because of the distinct way a group of independent pre-war Chinese women had bought them. A community of more than 100 celibate amahs or mah-jeh in Cantonese for mother-sister had bought these properties between the 1950s and 1970s.
