School of Rock is back in a major way! It was just announced that School of Rock is getting a TV series! Yes, the popular 2003 movie starring Jack Black is getting a second life in the form of a show that will air on Nickelodeon and Clevver News has all the details.
The Hollywood Reporter is confirming that Nickelodeon will work with the film’s director Richard Linklater to bring the series to life, and the show will follow the same plot as the movie – aka an aspiring rock star who ends up as a substitute teacher and schools his students in ROCK’N’ROLL!
No word on casting or any other details just yet, but it’s reported that we’ll hear all about that very shortly. As you know, School of Rock was one of Miranda Cosgrove’s first roles, so we’re definitely hoping she’s involved somehow, especially considering her relationship with Nick. We hear they’re hoping to start production in the fall of this year and aiming for a spring 2015 premiere. We are SO stoked. And we know it’s a LONG shot because he’s kicking comedy butt on Workaholics right now, but how AMAZING would Adam Devine be as Dewey?! We could totally see it.
