Selena Gomez, Britney spears and more celebs wrote sweet letters to the LGBTQ community in honor of pride month.
June marks Pride month and many celebs have gathered to remind us how far we’ve come and how far we need to go.
In celebration of Pride Month, Billboard asked dozens of pop icons to write love letters to the LGBTQ community. The amount of celebs that participated is jaw dropping and says a lot about where we stand today.
Britney spears talked about how vocal and positive the LGBTQ community has been towards her career, and admitted QUOTE: You see, it's actually you that lifts me up. The unwavering loyalty. The lack of judgment. The unapologetic truth. Acceptance! Your stories are what inspire me, bring me joy and make me and my sons strive to be better people. I love you.
Christina Agulera spoke about wanting to jump out of her own skin during the early stages of her pop career as she didn’t feel she fit “the perfect pop star mold’ but said it was her close group of gay inner friends that moved her forward, who by the way still remain her best friends today.
Selena Gomez spoke about growing up with the LGBT community and stated QUOTE: There is still a significant amount of work to do, and I look forward to the day when a person is never judged, discriminated or feared for their sexuality."
Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui who recently came out as bisexual also partook, writing “We spend so much time chastising what other people do in the darkness of their bedrooms that we forget that love is a part of our souls and it can be felt on a grand spectrum of truth. Anyone can love anyone and we should all be loving each other.”
Elton John wrote: “It’s no exaggeration to say that thanks to you, society is becoming more just, more loving, and more compassionate. That is something we can be proud of -- not just this month, but every month and every day of the year.”
Other starts like RuPaul, Vanessa Williams, Sean Hayes, Celine Dion, and Naya Rivera also chimed in and you can read their full letters along with everyone else who participated over on Billboard!
