Lauren opened up about the importance her new song with Halsey called “Strangers” noting that it is the only song about a same sex relationship playing on the radio right now.
You can always count on Lauren to put her activist foot forward and this time it’s all about representation.
Lauren and Halsey have teamed up for a progressive track called “Strangers” that is about a same sex relationship. Perfect timing considering that pride is just around the corner. Lauren opened up about the song in an interview with Elle saying QUOTE - “It’s a whole space that no one’s ever really touched upon before, and I feel like representation in music is so important. And reality-wise, we’ve [Halsey and I] both been in the situation before with different people, so it’s cool to have that representation.”
Lauren went on to talk more in depth about the meaning of the song saying - “This song is a love song we’re singing to each other. That kind of narrative and that emotional aspect [relationships between two women] hasn’t been touched upon at all, especially in pop music. People are excited about how revolutionary it is, and they’re so excited to be given a piece of music they feel represented in.”
