As well-known advocates for the equality for all, Lauren Jauregui and Halsey have put their influence to good use, teaming up for a brand new duet in support of the LGBTQ community.
Today’s episode is brought to you by the Un-carrier®. With unlimited data from T-Mobile®, the party never ends.
It may be a song about a tragic love, but truth be told, ‘tragic’ is the LAST word that comes to mind when describing this new hit.
It’s always refreshing to see celebrities use their platform to bring awareness to society, but when TWO celebs team up in support of the same cause, they’re truly unstoppable. And all thanks to Halsey and Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui, we were gifted a brand new collaboration called “Strangers” in which they’ve dropped in support of the LGBTQ community. Check it out:
The upbeat electropop love song was written by Halsey, which she claims was one of her favorite song she’s ever written. She appeared on the Zach Sang show recently to talk about the single saying QUOTE, “I just love that Lauren and I are two women who have a mainstream pop presence doing a love song for the LGBTQ community. It’s unheard of. It’s very rare to see it from a female perspective.”
She also revealed that she specifically chose Lauren to collab with because she wanted the song to be as real and relatable as possible, so having a straight girl sing on the track would not be ideal. She also gushed over their unique voices mixed on the track saying QUOTE, “I reached out to Lauren, and she came in and she cut the vocal and it sounds awesome. Our voices sound really cool together because we both have really raspy voices. Mine’s a little more delicate than hers. Hers is like really powerful and big and raspy, and mine is kind of like light and raspy. But it’s really cool.”
Both Halsey and Lauren took to Twitter to share their excitement for the release, as they each shared some the track’s emotional lyrics, and I’ve gotta say, this song is definitely one to be proud of. “Strangers” follows Halsey’s two previously released singles “Eyes Closed” and “Now or Never” and will also be featured on her second album hopeless fountain kingdom out now.
So I’d say this holiday weekend is already shaping up to be a good one all thanks to this new song, but what do you guys think about Halsey’s collab?
