Some people are accusing Shay Mitchell of FAKING her trip to China on Instagram.
This episode is brought to you by NHTSA reminding us that if you’re texting you’re not driving.
You could even say that some of those people are calling Shay… a pretty little liar. (LOL)
Like many – if not all people these days – Shay has been documenting her travels around the world on Instagram, but her latest vacation photos has raised some serious eyebrows. It all started when the people over at StyleCaster.com noticed something pretty weird on a picture that Shay shared to her Insta story.
The photo in question was of the Monster Building in Hong Kong and if you look closely at the picture on Shay’s Insta story, you can see a little mouse cursor in the bottom left corner. This caused StyleCaster’s writer to do a reverse search of the photo only to find out that the original photo was taken from a Canon travel blog.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t the only photo that Shay found on the internet to pass off as her own. StyleCaster went down a little rabbit hole and went on to call out a bunch of other pictures on Shay’s Instagram.
For example, Shay recently shared a photo to her Instagram of a pastel-colored building that she claimed she saw on her Hong Kong trip, but after a quick Google image search, it was revealed that the building is actually in Tokyo, Japan NOT Hong Kong and the original photo was taken by photographer Jan Vranovsky.
Since then, Shay has noticeably changed the caption to a few of her vacation images by taking out her Shaycation hashtag for the photos she did not take AND in some of her most recent pics, Shay shared subtle but snarky captions for each of them to prove that she’s actually overseas.
Shay shared a picture of the Yu Garden in Shanghai over the weekend and wrote ‘taken by me’ in her caption and in a couple of other photos with herself as the main subject, she captioned them with “View so nice it almost looks … fake.” And “I was here.” While Shay has yet to speak out on the accusations, her latest captions are probably as close as we’re ever going to get a statement on this whole situation.
Anyway, what do you guys think? Do you think Shay should make a public statement and tell us all what the heck is going on with her Instagram and Insta stories? Let me know your thoughts on this debacle in the comment section below. Thanks for hanging with me on Clevver Newsfeed, I’m your host Vivian Fabiola and I’ll see you guys next time.
